the Wayatinah

Totally unexplored by us, we were amazed to see these trees on the map. It’s shocking to now know that these trees particularly King Stringy, possibly the best example of a Stringbark (Eucalyptus obliqua) are a 2 minute diversion from the main highway linking East and West Tasmania. We had known of this tree for years but had never really investigated it.

TT199 - King Stringy | Eucalyptus obliqua | Height 86m | Volume 230 | Diameter 407m

Any tourist who drives from Hobart to the West Coast of Tasmania drives within just 4km of this surly stunning set of 9 giant trees that is spread over a very small area.
